[iDC] What if iCollege becomes patented?

this guy who wrote an almost trivial algorithm to match music and 
published it on his blog: http://sites.google.com/site/redcodenl/

I'd be worried about a new crop of patents that could be as broad as 
"system and methods to conduct courses online". I guess the race is on 
to build and document some iCollege methods now as it would constitute 
prior-art and prevent some of these legal issues.
