I think the problem in Open Source projects goes even deeper - it is
not only that the developers don't listen to their users - they also
don't listen to designers and other professionals.  Most Open Source
projects are very hierarchic - and also pretty closed.  They are
meritocracies - to prove you are good you need to come with good code
- this works to some extent - but also closes the community to any
influence transcending code.
