UCLA is finally about to publish a paper I wrote called "Death by Wall  
Text." As it was accepted *six* years ago, I've been tempted to rename  
it "Death by Academic Press."

If you're an impatient writer like me--or if you're interested in  
folksonomies applied to research discovery--you might want to try self- 
publishing via ThoughtMesh (http://thoughtmesh.net). Add an essay and  
ThoughtMesh will automatically generate tags for each of your  
sections; readers can then use them to navigate your essay or other  
essays with similar tag combinations. Your essay can live anywhere on  
the Web and still be interconnected with other meshed essays.

If you're organizing a conference or a journal issue, you can use  
ThoughtMesh to create your own "Mesh"--a subset of related essays with  
its own look and feel. The National Poetry Foundation's Mesh is one of  
the largest so far, with 40+ essays:
